Tagsa Uibhist and UNISON Sign Recognition Agreement

Tagsa Uibhist is proud to announce the signing of a formal Recognition and Procedural Agreement with UNISON, the UK’s leading public service union. Effective as of March 20th, 2026, this milestone reinforces Tagsa’s mission to be an exemplary, supportive, and accountable employer. This agreement complements Tagsa’s existing commitments as a Living Wage Employer, its Fair Work dedication, and its Investors in People accreditation.

By establishing a Joint Negotiating and Consultation Committee (JNCC), the partnership creates a robust framework for collective bargaining on essential matters including pay, holiday arrangements, and sickness leave plus much more.

Employees will have a collective voice through elected workplace representatives to negotiate terms and conditions. Joint consultation will focus on maintaining a safe and healthy working environment plus member can train as UNISON Health & Safety Reps. Staff will benefit from structured consultation on training and recruitment. Employees can now train as stewards, with Tagsa providing reasonable paid time off for training and union duties. Beyond collective issues, UNISON membership offers staff access to professional advice and representation during grievance or disciplinary procedures as well as many other member benefits which can be found here.

Chris MacLullich, CEO, Tagsa Uibhist reflected ‘This agreement is a big step in our ongoing journey to reflect best practices in every respect. It ensures our staff are not just employees, but partners in our success, fostering a culture of mutual respect and high-standard employment practices. This is vital in these challenging times and we are happy to have Unison engaging with us as an organisation.

Karen Donaldson, Regional Organiser, UNISON states ‘We welcome this voluntary recognition agreement as an important step in strengthening collective representation for our members. It provides a constructive basis for engagement and for advancing fair, equitable treatment and the protection of workers’ interests across the organisation. Tagsa Uibhist’s are committing to work with UNISON to ensure their workforce has a voice.’
